• In order to qualify for a Temporary Visa, the applicant must not receive payment from a Brazilian source except in the case of scientists, professors or researchers in a "pro-labore" work within a ninety days period. A traveling expense allowance can be accepted

• The Temporary Visa issued to researchers, scientists, professors, technicians, service providers, volunteers and specialists is valid for 2 years and is renewable

• The Temporary Visa issued to unpaid foreign trainees is valid for 60 days, and is renewable for another 60 days

• The Temporary Visa issued to foreign interns, amateur athletes and exchange students is valid for 1 year, and is non-renewable

• Extensions can be applied in Brazil, at least 30 days before the visa expires
